A favorite church outside of Ft. Lauderdale!  Primarily Jamaican Christians…loved the energy!  Lots of joy, dancing, tears, and shouting!  Services were longer than we were typically used to, but seemed shorter!  So open so real.  We loved it.

Treasure Coast of Florida – learned about Spanish history in this area.  An Armada of several ships sank right off of this coast and much treasure has been found in last few decades…continuing to this day.

I know some thought we had lost it when we decided to leave our jobs, family, friends, school and home to take this journey across the USA….but No, we didn’t join a cult and this is not us in our paramilitary training.

This is us saluting those who have defended our country and our privileges of freedom.  Teaching the children that does not come without a price and sacrifice.

Dear friends and family,

I, Hope, am going to write about the first two weeks of February. We were still staying at the Miami Everglade’s R.V. Park., but, this week we went to a different National Park this time, Biscayne National Park. We went canoeing and it was amazing. Everyone in our family was thought it was cool when we were about 5 feet from a crocodile in the water!  A rare treat.  We also tried to see manatees while canoeing, but this time we only saw their heads and fins. It was a lot of work, but another great adventure!

The next day was Super Bowl Sunday! We were all going for the Seahwaks. Every single one of us was amazed when the game came to an end and they won so easily. The next day we headed down to the Florida Keys. That day Grace found a full size conch shell on the beach, but she didn’t take it home because there was something living in there!   Next we went to Key West and we walked a lot. We got to point at the “Southern-Most” point of the United States, but Mommy kept on saying that the Southern-Most point was about two feet behind it closer to the water! Then we walked and walked until we came to the pier where they have the best sunset. Mommy had some key lime pie too!  The funny thing is that people that stay at our rv park were there too and we saw them. They invited us to go fishing with them and that is what Chuck, Grace, and Mommy did the next day. They saw these Eagle Rays in the water (Chuck called them that). They also came and got FaithJean and I to show us while Daddy was taking care of things. Later that same day we all went snorkeling as a family. Everyone had something to say about that, FaithJean said, “The water is so clear” and Mommy said, “ It was cool to go snorkeling with the fish and coral.” It was amazing and there was even a reef shark in front of the boat! However, Grace got seasick.

The next day we left the Flroida Keys and headed for Fort Lauderdale. Our rv site was supposed to be a pull-through, and it was, but the sides of the street were too narrow and it was a really tight back in. We didn’t think we could do it, but with the help of many people in the park we made it. Our trailer is 42 feet long, so it is very big and it took a lot of work to fit it into the very tight spot!  FaithJean thought she was going to tear up because so many people came together to help us.The next day we heard Christian music all day across the street and Daddy felt the urge to call somebody over and found out they were a Jamaican based Christian Church. We supported their fundraiser and decided to go their church the next day. Daddy thought it was one of his favorite churches ever. Lots of very real testimonies and people letting their emotions out the entire service.  Much joy, praise, and tears.  It was a great church.

The next day we got to go deep-sea fishing. All of us caught a fish, but Mommy and I had to throw ours back! Oh well. We tried to catch a reef shark but it was a careful eater and came off the line. The next day we went to Vero Beach, Fla. It was also a back-in spot, but a lot bigger one and easy for Daddy. The next thing we did was go to Treasure Coast. Treasure Coast is the area where the Spanish boats sank! I wanted to go out and look for treasure. That night Mommy and I got our treats for Valentine’s Day ready. Everybody thought they were delicious! On Valentine’s Day we went to what Daddy thought was one of the best museums ever. It was the Navy Seal Museum. It was pretty cool! So, that puts an end to our first 2 weeks of February!

Love, Hope, Chuck, Grace, FaithJean, Mommy, and Daddy

  1. Thank you, Hope, for your great stories! Why did you have to throw your fish back? Too small? The Jamaican church sounds incredible!
