Background and History

We have embarked on a year long journey across the USA!  The verse above serving as the foundation of our journey.  A little background and history below.

We had a “good” and blessed life.  Good careers at good organizations, good community to live in and raise our children, kids doing well in school and activities, family and friends all around us, ministry work, etc, etc.  However, at the same time we thought there should be more.  In particular, a deeper relationship with God, with each other, and in understanding and serving others.

Our lifestyle brought 60-80 hour work weeks, shuffling the kids to and from activities, homework help, ministry work, sleep when able, and back at it. An ongoing cycle and we were in it.  Questioning from time to time, is this God’s plan for our life?  With all that, true, meaningful time with God and each other was limited for us.

At that point, God put it on our heart there could be a different way.  IF we were willing to take a step of Faith.   A year long journey.  Taking pause from our current lifestyle and world, devoting more time to God, serving others, home schooling the kids, and sharing in the country first hand, all while connecting to God and each other on a deeper level.  Then..truly know what God’s plan was for us.

We consulted with trusted family and friends, and prayed – it was a difficult decision.  We could stay on our current path, raise the kids, and retire comfortably in 15 years or take a chance – this leap of faith.  The above was the only lifestyle we had known for quite awhile.

Romans 12:2 spoke to us at that time and has become our mission statement for our journey.  “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good pleasing, and perfect will.”

It was clearly now put up or shut up time. Not much of a decision at that point.  We transitioned out of our jobs, sold our home, purchased a truck and fifth wheel trailer (of which we had never really known what a fifth wheel was), planned our trip, said difficult good byes to family, friends, and the only lifestyle we knew and here we are!!

While challenging (primarily because it was such “change”), if we can do it, ANYBODY can do it.  We are told at times, “I wish I could do that” or “That sounds like what we need to do”.  If that is you, the title of our site is very purposeful to that point and is meant in two ways.

“You Can Do It – Jesus Journey”.

First, you can do it. The primary thing for us was to trust in the power of God in the uncertainty that can arise for such a change.  That ultimately it would work out for His Glory.  Logistically, it is actually very feasible for many and if we can help share any of our learning to assist in that, please let us know.

Secondly, and much more importantly, please know that YOU CAN have a direct and rewarding relationship with God…Your loving creator.  All you need to do is accept His Grace and Forgiveness through Jesus Christ and turn toward Him.  That is all!  It is much, much easier than taking any old trip across the USA and much more important.  If we can help you with that in ANY way, please let us know!

This blog will share our journey, our learning, our challenges, blessings, and experiences….and prayerfully our growth.   We pray it will be a blessing to you in some way along the  way.
