Looking forward to this adventure. Had no idea what a fifth wheel was a few months ago, now I am going to live in one with my wonderful family for a year…or more…as God speaks to us. Much planning has been done the past few months to take this journey. Now here we go! It wasn’t easy to make this life changing move and stepping out in Jan 2013, but truly God was speaking. It was time to put up or shut up regarding my Faith, my trust, and my commitment to Him, and includes all I have learned about Him and what is truly important.
Our first month on the road in September was a month of constant on the job learning for me, much responsibility to take care of my family, but in that I really enjoyed the freedom of being able to do so in a way that made sense to us….with God as our directing force.
Going up Highway 1 from San Simeon to Monterey was definitely a very blessed opportunity to put our trust in God, shouldn’t have been there with a 42 foot fifth wheel! However, once on the narrow path, nowhere to really go but forward (could there be a biblical analogy there?) We learned much from that logistically for the future, but more importantly had a solid family time putting on trust in God during that harrowing drive. Another moment that stood out for me was spending a few days with the Burke family in Sacramento. Good, good, people, and a blessing for us to have them in our life.
Other than that the month was essentially learning, seeing various parts of California, planning out our steps for the future, and ensuring we do all we can to be ready for the unknown that lies ahead. We were blessed by the many who shared their knowledge along the way – two key ones were a family friend Ron who shared his experience and knowledge with me in making our RV decision in June and July and a special technician Aron at Giant RV for his care and help and also knowledge transfer of some of his expertise.
In so many ways that I cannot detail here, I can see this journey is going to be a huge opportunity for me to grow as a person, a father, a husband, a follower of God, and a witness. Connect with you soon!

You Can Do It – Jesus Journey. A nice concept, that literally turned into reality quickly for our family with God’s wisdom. We are now a family that is known as “The Wandering Weber’s.” Hmmm, let see, going on a trip across the U.S. for a year with our family. Sounds adventurous. The idea actually initially started from our wonderful family friends over ten years ago. That amazing adventurous family consists of Loring, Barbie, Sarah, and Jacob who live in Redlands, Ca. We met this great family through So. Ca. Edison where Chuck was employed the last 15 years. We were inspired by their year long journey and thought that it would be nice to do the same…someday.
Well, to make a long story shorter, through God’s guidance – NOW became the time and with His everlasting grace here we are embarking on something we have never done before.
Ready, get set, stop…… no go!!!!! Go and explore, and live our life to the fullest!
After leaving our home in Upland the end of August, we headed for Mission Viejo where my amazing brother Ray lives with his wonderful wife Courtney, and my two smart nephews Kelly, and Brody. I can’t forget to leave out her sweet mother Cheri who lives a few houses down from them.
Traveling with a 42 foot fifth wheel is no laughing matter! This thing is HUGE! After leaving my brother’s, we practiced backing up with the 42 footer for about two hours at a local Target parking lot where there was no one else parked. Thank the good Lord for that! Sorry honey, you’re an absolutely great driver, but this was new territory! Now we joke around about it!
We were now off and running from the local area of Southern Cali to Central Cali and parts of Northern Cali, saving Northern Redwood Forest Cali for the end of our trip. Traveling in California first allowed us to become familiar with living in our fifth wheel, getting things fixed while we were still close by and just simply getting used to being in new places every 2-7 days. Now digest that! It was hard at times, but I thought our kids were handling the trip very well considering that they had been through so many changes in the last few months.
California is such an amazing state! After living here all of my life, it will be hard to impress me after what I have been accustomed to in my native land of Cali. We have so much that the other states will have to compete with. We took it all in and then embarked for new states and adventures.

We kicked off our “out of the norm” trip with the long Cali coast. Seriously, I had no idea California was really that long and we didn’t even go to the tip of it. So we started the first couple of days at my Uncle Ray and Aunt Courtney’s house, then we went to Newport Beach, and San Dimas. We didn’t really kick off the trip until we went somewhere we had never been before, and that was Pismo Beach. Two stops after Pismo we went to the big city of San Francisco. I loved San Francisco. It was so huge and busy. For me, I really don’t realize how big things are until I see them in person. My favorite attraction in San Francisco was the Golden Gate Bridge. It is really big. I walked the whole thing with Mommy and Hope, and I called my other sister, Melissa in the middle of the bridge. We also got to go on an awesome bay cruise under the bridge.
On my Mom’s birthday, we went to an Angels vs. Oakland Athletics game. The Angels won, and I got a ticket signed by Mark Trumbo, and a ball from Andrew Romine. The game was very fun. After San Francisco, we visited our friends in Sacramento – the Burke family. They let us stay in their home, and we thank them so much for their kindness. It was great to see them. When we visited Sacramento, my favorite thing we saw there was the capitol. I learned so much there. While we stayed in Sacramento, we also drove into Nevada. After Sacramento, we headed down to Southern California.

First, we went to California! The first thing we did to begin our trip was that we stayed at our Uncle Ray’s house. That was the day we moved and put our stuff in storage and get everything ready. The next place was Newport Dunes. We went there as a practice, to get the hang of it. Next we went to East Shore. We went to the LA county fair. Some of our family members came to visit.
Next we went to Pismo Beach. At PB there was a path to the beach, but there was a creek in front of it. We played some games there! Next we went to Morro Bay. We only stayed there one night. We saw a rock called Morro Rock. On the beach there was a lot of dead crabs on the beach and sand dollars, I eve picked up a dead crab. Yucky! We also went to an aquarium, there were seals, and they went ohhh because we had fish. Next one was Santa Cruz and Highway 1. We pretended driving Highway 1 with our trailer like it was a video game. Level 10, because it was crazy! We were praying all the way! When we made it, we were yes! There was a jumping pillow there, it was my favorite RV Park.
Next was San Francisco! The RV Park we stayed at was our first time dray camping! We went to an Oakland vs. Angels game, the Angles won, it was Mommy’s B-day! Next we went to Sacramento, we also went to Lake Tahoe Nevada. We also stopped two nights at my Daddy’s friend’s house, Brian Burke and their family. They are nice. Daddy also got sick a few days later. Next we went to Three Rivers. The lady that worked there was nice, she gave us a lot of free stuff because she felt bad we didn’t get to go to Sequoia National Park, those silly politics. That is the end of September, in October we went back to Pomona to get our RV fixed.

Dear Friends and Family,
Our trip begins! We went to my Uncle Ray and Aunt Courtney’s house for a couple nights. It was nice to be able to see familiar faces for the first few stops. Like in Newport we got to see my Sister Melissa and in San Dimas we got to see my Sister Melissa, my Brother in-Law Chris, my Uncle Bill, my Grandpa Hyles and my Cousin Occean. Before we went to Pismo Beach we got to see my other grandpa and then we headed up north. When we were in Morro Bay I did a hamburger competition. I had to eat a 12-patty hamburger. My Daddy said if I ate it all he would pay the $20.00 and if I didn’t finish it I had to pay for the meal. I only ate half. So my $20.00 went down the drain!
I am now writing about the second half about the month of September. We first went to Watsonville wear Santa Cruz and Monterey. The R.V. Park we stayed at had this huge jumping pillow, it was cool. We also went to the Monterey aquarium. On our way to the Watsonville R.V. Park we went on Highway 1 and it was dangerous for our 42 ft. 5th wheel. We prayed and God led us out safely. After that we went to San Francisco. We got to see some really cool things. Like the Golden Gate Bridge. I walked the whole thing. It’s cool to be able to see things I learned about in History or saw on T.V. We then got to go to an Angel’s vs. Oakland game. I wasn’t feeling good that day. We got to go to a friend’s house near Sacramento. We got to see the Capitol Building and we also drove to Lake Tahoe and we were even in Nevada for a second. We then went to Three Rivers for the Sequoia National Park, but they were closed for political reasons. After that we headed back down South. These are just a few of the great adventures we have had in the month of September.
With Love, Hope

Our first place was our Uncle’s house! It was fun to be starting something new! Second was Newport Dunes, we go there every year.! I like how we can walk down to the bay and climb trees. Third was a San Dimas R.V. park I loved. Forth, was Pismo Beach. I liked how we were now somewhere different. Fifth, was Morro Bay, it was a nice little area, but fun and there were taffy shops! Sixth, was Monterey, the aquarium was great and the jumping pillow in the RV park was the most fun yet! Seventh, was San Francisco, it was very big and I liked the hills Eighth, was Sacramento and we went to the Jelly Belly Factory! Ninth, was Three Rivers, I like it a lot and I searched the nearby river for gold. Then back to Upland to visit.

Hello Webers,
This is your friendly waitress from the Morro Bay restaurant where Hope ate her burger challenge. I just wanted to let you know I’m enjoying following your travels. My life has changed a lot since I meet you. I went from a life of world traveling to now settling down here, now as a step mom of two and one of my own on the way. I’m also a professor at the local college. I’ve also met a family who is politely and kindly bringing me closer to God. I write because I was hoping you would be willing to send some prayers my way. I’ve had some pregnancy complications and some relationship hardfalls with my partner, mainly because he is played with some mental struggles. This family life suits me but I’m new to it all and very scared to go about it, maybe you can send me some guidance? Most of all, i just wanted to say good on ya for keeping on the journey. There’s nothing like travel to expand your hearts and your minds. Best Regards, Kelli 🙂
